Offensively gifted with a quick release and a deadly shot, John Ogrodnick was known for his ability to put the puck in the net during his tenure in the NHL,  which lasted parts of 15 seasons from 1979 through 1993.A first team NHL All-Star in 1985, Ogrodnick had a career year, scoring 55 goals, and adding 50 assists to finish 7th in league scoring. His 55 goal season was actually a Detroit Redwings team record, held until non other than Steve Yzerman hit 65 goals in 1988-89. Ogrodnick would put up four seasons of 40+ goals, finishing his career with 402 goals and 827 points in 928 games.
